Adria
A villainous sorceress. One of the trio of Baron Mordo's disciples along with Demonicus and Kaecilius. First appearance: ST #142. Last known status: Trapped in the Purple Dimension [DS #56].
Agamotto
One of the triad of powerful extradimensional beings known as The Vishanti.
Aggamon the All-Powerful
Tyrannical ruler of the gem-themed Purple Dimension, and one of the Lords of the Netherworld. Aggamon enslaves natives of other dimensions to work in his mines. The gems from his dimension can be used to create weapons, focus, store and amplify magic, send people to the Purple Dimension, etc. He has tangled with both Dr. Strange [ST #119] and Clea [DSSS Annual #2]. Last known status: Presumably still rules the Purple Dimension and remains a profitable gem/weapon supplier.
Ancient One, The
Dr. Strange's mentor. The Sorcerer Supreme of Earth's dimension before Doc. First appearance: ST #110. Last known status: Deceased; sacrificed himself to be killed by Doc to defeat Shuma-Gorath [MP #10].
Anomaly Rue, The
The shape in Doctor Strange's window [DSSS #62, #64, #66, #72]. An arcane geomagickal correlation.
On the name: David Quinn, the writer of Doctor Strange, Sorcerer Supreme at the time, told Neilalien he made up the name "anomaly rue".

Eisner's artistic influence on Ditko is present in much of Ditko earliest work. The Spirit lived underground in a tomb in a cemetery and had an abstract German expressionist window - a circle with criss-crosses on it to create curved wedges of black - which Ditko adopted not only for Dr. Strange's mansion, but can be seen at various points throughout Ditko 1950s Charlton mystery stories.

Clea
Daughter of Umar and Orini, niece of Dormammu. Former apprentice and lover of Dr. Strange. Current wife, somewhat estranged, of Dr. Strange. Last known status: In her home Dark Dimension, leading a rebellion against Dormammu's rule.
Caius of Lacedaemon
A powerful Spartan mystic who bound demons during the time of the Peloponnesian War, and the last mystic to simultaneously hold all three Eyes of Agamotto at once [Doom 2099 #13].
Cyttorak
A powerful extradimensional being from the Crimson Cosmos. Doc calls upon him often for the spell The Crimson Bands of Cyttorak. He is also the Juggernaut's power source through the Crimson Gem of Cyttorak.

The correct and most-common spelling is Cyttorak (2 T's, 1 R). It's been spelled Cytorrak (1 T, 2 R's) in some places (e.g., DSSS #49).
Pronounced "SIT-or-rack" in the 90's Spider-Man cartoon episode "Doctor Strange" (1996).
Pronounced "sy-TOR-ack" in the X-Men Evolution episode "The Cauldron- Part 2" (2001).

Dark Blood-Hunger of The Night, The
A swarm of evil bat-like creatures, banished out of the Universe by Dr. Strange, and conjured back in by Urthona with the Darkhold [DS #81].
Dark Dimension, The
Daveroth
Presumably, a powerful extradimensional being. Shialmar the Shadowqueen once cast the Daggers of Daveroth at Doc [DS #44].
"[By] the deadly daggers of Daveroth..." Part of a vile spell cast by Nox [DSSS #39].
Death
Defenders, The
A superhero team (or maybe non-team would be more accurate) with whom Doc is affiliated. The classic line-up would be: Doc, Hulk, Sub-Mariner, Silver Surfer, Valkyrie, Nighthawk and Hellcat.
Demonicus
A villainous sorcerer. One of the trio of Baron Mordo's disciples along with Adria and Kaecilius. First appearance: ST #128. Last known status: Trapped in the Purple Dimension [DS #56].
Denak
A powerful extradimensional being. Doc calls upon him often for the spell The Demons of Denak. "Demons of Denak" is a common exclamation by both Doc and villains.
Dormammu
A primary villain of Dr. Strange. An extremely powerful and magickal Faltinian who has ruled the Dark Dimension almost interrupted for millennia. He desires to enter and control the Earth dimension. The Flames of Regency envelop his head. Last known status: Defeated and powerless and at Umar/Eternity's whim [Defenders V3 #5].
Draggus
"By the darksome depths of Draggus..." Part of a vile spell cast by Nox [DSSS #39].
Dreamstalker
Nightmare's steed, a demonic black horse [DSSS #39].

An extradimensional being with the great sewing ability required to repair The Cloak of Levitation. Former mentor to Rintrah.
Eternity
Last known status: Defeated by Dormammu and Umar, his power absorbed into both, and now only Umar [Defenders V3 mini-series].
Faltine, The

"[By] the fearsome fangs of Faralloh..." Part of a vile spell cast by Nox [DSSS #39].
Ghaszaszh (or Ghaszaszah) Nyirh
Griefsavor
One of the triad of powerful extradimensional beings known as The Trinity of Ashes.
G'Uranthic Guardian, The
A large, one-eyed, six-armed creature with orange rocky skin, which guards Dormammu's citadel in the Dark Dimension. It possesses great strength and an incapacitating eye beam. Item: Defeated by the Hulk in DSSS #50.
Hamir The Hermit
The Ancient One's manservant. Wong's father [DS #44]. He continues to maintain the Ancient One's Himalayan temple.
Hoggoth
One of the triad of powerful extradimensional beings known as The Vishanti. Doc has often referred to "The Hosts of Hoggoth."
Ikonn
A powerful extradimensional being. Doc calls upon him often for the spell The Illusions of Ikonn.
Ikthalon
A powerful extradimensional being called upon for the spell The Icy Tendrils of Ikthalon [DS #33].

Imei
Former girlfriend of Wong. Killed by the kiss of Sister Nil. Falsely resurrected by Salome (her soul was really attached to the skeletal demon Xaos). Last known status: Fully deceased [DSSS #88].
Kaecilius
A villainous sorcerer. One of the trio of Baron Mordo's disciples along with Adria and Demonicus. First appearance: ST #142. Last known status: Trapped in the Purple Dimension [DS #56].
Kan The Priest
Long ago, Kan was a monk, but also, when the need arose, a great warrior. Through a mirror of black crystal, he was transported to an other-dimensional Earth by rebels seeking to overthrow the nonhuman Wizard Kings who ruled that Earth. After Kan orchestrates the brutal defeat of the Wizard Kings, he learns that they were benevolent rulers, and treachery among the rebellion leaders leaves that Earth worse off, under the rule of Kan's lover, now the demonic Shialmar the Shadowqueen. Kan is sent back to this Earth, unable to return, and feeling loads of guilt. To atone for his sin, he indentures himself to mages of good, as does every first-born male among his descendents, a blood line that includes Hamir, the Ancient One's manservant, and Hamir's son Wong, Dr. Strange's manservant [DS #44].
Kkallakki
A swarm of alien insect-like creatures which terrorize other beings in order to drink in the fear they engender. Also called Fear-Eaters. Parented by their Hatch Lord Kkallakku. [DSSS #39]

The evil half-brother of Thor. An Asgardian and powerful sorcerer. Doc's enemy on several occasions.
Lurking Unknown

Daughter of Mephisto.
Mephisto
The Devil of the Marvel Universe. An enemy to Doc on many occasions.
Mindless Ones
Nonintelligent one-eyed creatures of great strength and eye blasts who cause mayhem and destruction in the Dark Dimension when not properly corraled.
Mordo, Astrid
Daughter of Baron Mordo. Villainess of Dr. Strange. Last known status: She was placed in a mystic coma by an etheric blade; her sleeping body has been sent to another dimension [DSSS #87].
Mordo, Baron Karl
A primary villain of Dr. Strange. A powerful mystic. Previous apprentice of the Ancient One. Previous status: Turned to the good side right before dying; deceased from cancer [DSSS #87]. Last known status: Baron Mordo was apparently able to somehow exploit a recent time-manipulation by Dr. Strange (to allow Spider-Man to meet his Uncle Ben again) and return to the living.
Mother-of-Pain
One of the triad of powerful extradimensional beings known as The Trinity of Ashes.
Munipoor
Doc has often referred to "The Moons of Munipoor." Portrayed as a powerful extradimensional being in the form of a purple-skinned female with moon shapes on her body in DSSS #49.
Mytorr
"By the misbegotten, mighty Mytorr..." Part of a vile spell cast by Nox [DSSS #39].
N'Gabthoth
A monstrous creature associated with Shuma-Gorath. Also called The Shambler From The Sea. Destroyed by Dr. Strange [MP #6].
Nicodemus
Nightmare
A primary villain of Dr. Strange. An extradimensional entity who feeds on the frightful dreams of sleeping mortals. First appearance: ST #110.
Nox
Mother of the demons Phobos (Fear) and Deimos (terror). Wields the Sword of Night, which steals souls as it slays [DSSS #39].
Orini
Father of Clea.
Oshtur
One of the triad of powerful extradimensional beings known as The Vishanti.
In the Marvel Universe, the real-world neopagan holiday Ostara is named after Oshtur [Mystic Arcana: Black Knight (backup story)].
Paradox

Pura-Shamutra
A powerful extradimensional being allied with or desiring to ally with The Trinity of Ashes in the War of the Seven Spheres. Destroyed by Jarakk and Urthona in DSSS #57. Restored to life by Doc in DSSS #58 to preserve cosmic balance.
Raggadorr
Doc has often referred to "The Rings of Raggadorr." Portrayed as a powerful extradimensional being in the form of a green-skinned male with circle shapes on his clothes in DSSS #49.
Rangsabb
"By the horned hellions of Rangsabb..." Part of a vile spell cast by Nox [DSSS #39].
Mr. Rasputin
A villainous sorcerer who once tangled with Dr. Strange [ST #145]. Descendent of the infamous Russian monk. Last known status: Doc removed the knowledge of sorcery from Rasputin's mind and turned him over to the authorities. His memories eventually returned, and apparently his debt to society for trying to take over the world paid, Rasputin has forsaken a life of crime for marriage, two children, and a job in insurance under the name Plotnick [Cloak & Dagger Vol. 3 #1; Marvel Legacy The 1960's Handbook].
Rintrah of R'Vaal
Former apprentice of Enitharmon The Weaver. Former mystical apprentice of Dr. Strange. Last known status: Deceased.
Salome
A villainous sorceress who has competed with Doctor Strange for the mantle of Sorcerer Supreme. Last known status: Deceased.
Satannish
A massive, green demon with multiple horns and a second face and maw in its abdomen (in its most common incarnation).
Seraphim, The
A group of powerful extradimensional beings. Doc calls upon them often for the spell The Shields of the Seraphim. Doc has often referred to "The Shades of the Seraphim" [as in MP #4].

Stevens, Vincent
One of the magical constructs Doc made from himself during the Siege of Darkness story line [the event transpired in DSSS #61, but is not explained until later] that eventually led to the Strangers Among Us and Last Rites story lines. Stevens was later dissipated in battle with Doc and Strange. [DSSS #74].
Strange
One of the magical constructs Doc made from himself during the Siege of Darkness story line [the event transpired in DSSS #61, but is not explained until later] that eventually led to the Strangers Among Us and Last Rites story lines. Strange was eventually sent to the Dark Dimension to help Clea in her rebellion against Dormammu and renamed Paradox [DSSS #75]. Some time later, Clea mentions that she has faced great loss, with what appears to be Paradox' cloak ominously hanging on a wall in the background [Order #4].
Strange, Victor
Doctor Stephen Strange's brother.
Strangers, The
Strange and Vincent Stevens. The two magical constructs Doc made from himself during the Siege of Darkness story line that eventually led to the Strangers Among Us and Last Rites story lines.
Tazza
A villainous sorcerer, and ruler of his own dimension. When Tazza defeated mystics in battle, he imprisoned their astral forms and displayed their bodies in his Hall of Heroes. Dormammu led Dr. Strange to Tazza's dimension as a trap, but Doc defeated him and freed the trapped mystics [ST #144]. Last known status: Unknown.
Tiboro
Leader of the Sixth Dimension, and villain to Dr. Strange.

A young female empath and healer. An ally and friend of Dr. Strange.
Trinity of Ashes, The
A triad of powerful extradimensional beings: Griefsavor, Ygmlosvorraich, and Mother-of-Pain. The primary enemies (roles of opposing forces were assigned) of The Vishanti in the War of the Seven Spheres [DSSS #48].
Umar
A primary villainess of Dr. Strange. An extremely powerful and magickal Faltinian. Sister of Dormammu, mother of Clea. Last known status: Umar apparently now is/has all the power of Eternity [Defenders V3 #5].
Urthona
A powerful alien sorcerer who has competed with Doctor Strange for the mantle of Sorcerer Supreme. From the planet Gevaltu [DSSS #57] with manganese sands.

Zota of Pergamum
A villainous sorcerer in Ancient Egypt. Doc traveled back in time and tangled with him twice [ST #124, and then at a later modern date [DSSS #33], Doc went back to a time ten years before their first meeting]. Last known status: Doc removed the knowledge of sorcery from Zota's mind, and presumably, history records no further escapades.
