Black Jack #1

Panel 1: "My wife" comes out of nowhere. Nice to know that marriage is akin to prison and pain in the suffering department. And some say there's misogyny in superhero comics... No, I wasn't a child of divorce. Maybe Dr. Destroyer's wife died tragically. This is probably somehow based on Amazing Spider-Man #197, when Kingpin must defeat Spidey before midnight and his wife Vanessa returns to end his career of crime.

Panel 2: Good old-fashioned punch to the crotch. "Hey man! I don't need your life story!"

Panel 3: "You won't even have a life!" The bookshelf-as-weapon matches a passage in Amazing Spider-Man #197 when Kingpin uses a large cabinet as a weapon.

Panel 4: The final crushing blow can't be contained by a panel border. Learning the language of comics... I've never said "holy crow" aloud in my life.

Panel 5: "You put up a bad fight, Black Jack!" If there's any witty banter here, it's inspired by the back-and-forth between Spidey and Kingpin in #197.
