Black Jack #1

The intro blurb about the character at the top of the first page is of course the old Marvel Comics style.

Black Jack's real name is Jack Spader. Duh.

"...and his dissolving acid power he received from the real Black Jack..." The mystery of why we are reading the adventures of a false Black Jack is never explained.

Maybe I meant to say that he received his power from the original Black Jack.

This book was very much inspired by Amazing Spider-Man #196-197, which features goons collecting Spidey so he can battle The Kingpin at his mansion. #197 is an all-out battle issue between Spider-Man and the Kingpin.

Black Jack's power is described as "electrified lances". From Amazing Spider-Man #197:

Amazing Spider-Man #197 is cover-dated October 1979.
